Back Sides of Buildiings

I am fascinated by back doors, the rear side of a building that you're not supposed to see.

The front of a structure is often referred to as the facade or frontage.

The antonyms for facade are reality, truth, real personality, actual character.

The back of a building tells a story that's very different from the tale of the facade.

Often, the rear side is far more interesting artistically, even though not as nice or pretty.

You get the impression that owners don't care about the back of a building; allowing junk to accumulate, paint to peel, and iron to rust.
